General Contractor in Riverside, CA

Licensed, hands-on, accountable. We manage every detail of your build — so you don't have to chase your contractor for answers.

What is General Contracting?
General contracting is the work most people only notice when it's done badly: missed deadlines, contractors who stop answering the phone, change orders that arrive as surprises. We do it differently. JJ Builders has built and remodeled homes across the Inland Empire for 18 years, and we manage every project — from scheduling and permits to materials and quality control — with one person responsible from start to finish: the owner, Joshua Phillips.

Why homeowners hire JJ Builders
You don't need another contractor explaining how complicated construction is. You need one who runs your project like it's their own house being built.
Every JJ Builders project is overseen directly by Joshua Phillips. That means decisions get made faster, problems get caught earlier, and you always know the person standing on your job site is the same person who priced your contract. We've worked across Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, Temecula, and the surrounding Inland Empire long enough to know what each city's inspectors expect, what each neighborhood permits, and where the soil, lot, and HOA realities will affect your build.

What you get when you hire us
How a project moves with JJ Builders
01
Discovery Call (15 minutes)

We start with a free phone consultation. You tell us what you're building. We tell you whether we're the right fit, what a realistic budget range looks like, and what the next step is. No pressure, no estimate-by-phone gymnastics.

02
Site Visit & Preliminary Estimate

We come to your home (or lot), take measurements, talk through what you want, and provide a preliminary budget range. For complex projects, this is also where we identify lot, permit, or structural realities that affect cost.

03
Design & Pre-Construction

Once we agree on scope, we move into a design and pre-construction phase. Plans, engineering, materials, and a fixed scope of work all get locked down here — so when construction starts, the budget and timeline are real numbers, not guesses. (Design and pre-construction fees typically run $3,000–$10,000, scaled to project size.)

04
Build

Once the contract is signed, work begins. You get weekly on-site check-ins, daily progress updates through Houzz Pro, and one point of contact for the entire build. Standard builds typically finish in 4–6 months. Luxury and custom homes in 10–14 months.

05
Closeout & Warranty

Final walkthrough, professional cleanup, and a written workmanship warranty (5 years on luxury builds, 2 years on standard). We're still around if anything needs attention afterward — we'd rather come fix something small in year three than have you tell a neighbor we ghosted.

What we manage so you don't have to

  • City permits and inspections in Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, Temecula, and surrounding Inland Empire cities
  • Trade coordination — framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, finish carpentry, painters, tile, landscaping — vetted, licensed, and held to the same site standards we hold ourselves to
  • Material orders, lead times, and substitution decisions when something is back-ordered
  • Change orders documented and priced before any work proceeds — never a verbal “we’ll figure it out later”
  • Final inspections, certificate of occupancy, and the punch list — handled in writing, with a clear closeout
